"hIYAH!"
With a swift kick, Positive sent a corrupted's head flying halfway across the land, where it eventually collided against a tree and dissolved into black dust all over the yarn ground. "That's the last of 'em for now! Damn, how long have we been in the same place? That was TOO MANY creepy 'lil dudes!" The purple possum NPC put his large paws on his hips and huffed. "Persistent heckers. They're good practice though, right Cheat?"
The NPC in question ran up themselves after punching the last of the monsters, panting a little as they sat down next to him. "That took... much longer than I anticipated, master Positive! I think the area is safe again now, yes?" They tilted their head at their taller friend, and the two stared at each other for a few seconds too long for c̟̗͉o͇͎̱̭m̭̖̪f͓͖̬o̬̭̻rtͅ. Absolute silence. Cheat found themselves sweating when they realized why. "O-Oh, sorry-!"
Positive held up a paw to stop them from continuing. "Yeah, whatever. It's cool. I just don't know how I feel about you calling me 'master' still, is all. Huh." He scratched his head and squinted up ahead. "Are we really the only ones out here? It's daytime and all, you'd think it'd be more lively..."
Cheat nodded. "The villagers were hiding from Corrupted, so they should be back soon. As for players, I'm not too sure...?"

Ikki stared blankly as he watched the creature dissolve away and sighed, scratching the side of his head with a claw. His first visit to the Yarnland, and those weird things were around, huh...? But there weren't as many around him, luckily. If anything, it seemed a good number of them had already been taken care some time before he was even here. Lucky for him, because Ikki knew he wouldn't be quick enough to deal with a bunch of enemies at once. Brute strength can only get you so far...
Still, he walked with his claws still out as he continued his little exploration. Where was everyone...? Oh, the villagers were probably hiding. Hm...but someone must be here, right? Ikki kept walking until he finally spotted two figures a bit farther away from him, one much smaller than himself, and hurried over towards them. He was happy to find someone else here besides himself. "Um... Hey...!!"

"They must have ditched this place for one of the 'cooler' lands," Positive made air quotes around the word 'cooler' with his fingers, "Which is total BS, because obviously Tangled Yarnlands is like, as fun as it gets. Literal toys, man." Cheat simply responded with "mhmm" and seemed to be lost in thought about something else. Did they ever listen to him?
Both NPCs were alerted by the sound of feet running towards them and they turned to greet the stranger with a hint of relief. "Oh, a player." Positive tilted his head at the b͕̲̫̻̫l̤̪u̲̻̯̗e̮͇̼̘̝͎ͅ and black creature as Cheat chimed in with a 'hello, hero!' and a little excited hop.
"You were fighting corrupted too, eh? I can smell it on ya," Positive sniffed the player and grinned. "Anyways, cool claws! You probably fight like I do." He held up one of his giant paws and flexed his fingers as if they were adorned with claws as majestic as this newbies. All Pozz had was strength, of course. No giant claws for this possum. The NPC remembered his manners (sort of) and paused to motion at Cheat. "You probably know them already, but I'm Positive. What's your name, Mr. Blueberry?"

Ah, if only the other knew how troublesome having large claws like Ikki's could be, especially against more than two opponents, as they slowed him down something awful. Ikki looked down at Cheat, the gears in his head turning as he tried to remember the little...bunny...thing...but his mind was drawing a blank. But he was staring a little too hard.
But luckily, his attention was drawn back to the opossum as Ikki's face scrunched up a little at the new nickname. "Mr. Blueberry"? He had been called "Mr. Straps" once but not that. Though Ikki wasn't sure if it was a bad name or not; he didn't think the other was trying to insult him. So he gave Positive a lazy smile. "Ikki...my name...is Ikki..." He drawled out. "Did you...fight those things...off?" he asked, trying to remember what they were called. "Er...Corrupted...?"

"Yeah-"
"Of course we did, Hero!" Cheat cut the other NPC off, making the possum roll his eyes in contempt. They always got a little too excited when speaking to players, which was alright with Positive, he guessed. Despite how the two acted around each other, they were actually good f͇̜̖̭͍r̜͍̤i̳e̲̦nd̮̯̲̥s̠. The smaller NPC continued, "We have to be able to fight off any corrupted! It's our duty to help protect you, after all... Not that heroes ever need that much help! You can think of us as your, um..." Cheat paused, holding one paw to their chin until they thought of a proper word. "Side-kicks!"
"Whoa whoa whoa," Positive looked down at Cheat with a disapproving frown, "I ain't nobody's side-kick." His friend responded with a mere shrug and grinned back at Ikki.
"Did you have anywhere to go today, Hero? You should stay with us!"

'Hero'? That sounded...weird. Ikki wasn't sure if he liked being called that. And he didn't...like the small rabbit thing's over enthusiasm either. Weird... "You killed...most of them though..." He had just so stumbled into the area when most of those corrupted were preoccupied with these two. He really wasn't much help. He wasn't the hero this time around. "Ikki... Just...Ikki, please..."
"Came to play..." Was his simple answer. He looked around, his feet idly padding the soft flooring of the village in small amusement, sometimes hearing the satisfying sound the sharp nails on his feet made with the occasional rip. Kind of like a cat playing with a ball of yarn...or clawing up your couch. He even flexed his claws a little as his eyes were caught on one of the homes. "Maybe scratch..." So in other words, he wasn't going to leave anytime soon.
